PINTEREST: Halloween 2014 – Vodka, Mummies, and More GoT 1

Oh man oh man. Parties are something of a thing for us.

And this Halloween was no different.

The BF and I dressed up as Daenerys and Jon Snow from Game of Thrones. I, unfortunately, was too busy all night to stop for a picture, and here’s why.

I made the Nacho Bean Dip that I talked about in this post which everyone loves so much, but I also made these little guys!

Super cute, right? And easy too. Just cut two slits for arms, and one slit for the legs, and cut strips of the canned croissant rolls (I think I bought the HEB (grocery) story brand) and wrap them however you want.  The directions for cooking them are on the can, but I think it’s like 350° for 6-8 minutes or something. I stuck some toothpicks in them to make them easy to pick up, and those were gone almost as fast as the bean dip!

Then I made (or attempted to make) caramel apples.  I think this was the first recipe I’ve attempted in a while that I really bombed.  I mean, it was just awful.  The caramel I made tasted okay, but it was like corn syrup (which is an ingredient, but it didn’t thicken AT ALL).  I think I just didn’t cook it long enough (probably because I don’t own a candy thermometer.  Oops).  That was frustrating because I was up till like 2 in the morning the night before trying to make them and still had to get up and go to work in the morning (oh didn’t I tell you? I finally got a job in like, August).

No one cared about the apples though, they were too interested in the mummies and the nacho dip and THESE:

Say it again.

Jolly Rancher Vodka.

Oh man, just remembering this stuff makes me wish I had money to blow on vodka more often.

These were so good! Basically you take 12 pieces of each flavor of Jolly Rancher, throw them in five individual flasks or containers of some kind (we’re not classy enough for the cute glass flasks with stoppers, we bought some cheap plastic containers with lids for like $2 apiece), and let them marinate overnight in the vodka (split a liter bottle between the 5 jars). Voila, Jolly Rancher vodka.

1-2 bags Jolly Ranchers
1 liter Vodka (we bought a Texas brand, Dripping Springs, I think)
5 containers to split the vodka into

Be careful though, these almost don’t taste alcoholic, so you can drink a bunch of it without realizing. I HATE vodka, but loved these.

Recipe Credit:

We had a great time, as always, though people were hoarding the nacho dip again. It’s gonna start a riot one of these days.  Have you tried that recipe yet? If not, you should. 🙂

Oh, and here’s the obligatory selfie of my Danaerys costume.  I got custom blue contacts for my costume! I wish I had done a step by step of this costume, it was pretty awesome when it was done. Oh well, maybe next year!
